YVONNE HINSON, board advisor
Florida State Representative Yvonne Hinson is double Gator, ’71 and ’72 graduate from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Special Education and a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. A lifelong educator and public servant, she has been a steadfast champion for equity in education, voting rights, and community collaboration. She served as the Membership Chair of the Alachua County Democratic Executive Committee, the Finance Chair of the Gainesville Housing Authority Governing Board, board member of the Alachua County Branch N.A.A.C.P., and past president of the UF Black Alumni Association. In 2012, she was elected to the Gainesville City Commission where she served until 2015. As a Member-at-Large for the Ancestors Dream Initiative— Rep. Hinson lends her legislative expertise, historical perspective, and unwavering commitment to justice to support ADI’s mission.
